About

Background

I initially created this site as a way to share moments from mine and Alex’s life with friends and family in a way that was simple on my end, and easily accessible on theirs. A lot of people aren’t on social media, so they end up missing out on any updates that I post, and even when I do share, it’s usually just a few shots, which never really feels like enough. So I figured that this site could be the perfect space to share more freely, without being limited to just a handful of images or a few ten-second stories.

At first I thought this site would be a simple archive—very minimal and bare bones—just a convenient place to upload and share photos. However, the more I thought about it, the more I began to think that this site could be so much more . . .

As you may or may not know, I’m a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain (rip). I’ve watched all his shows, I’ve read his autobiography, and it’s because of him that I discovered my passion for traveling. His approach to exploring the world really captivated and inspired me—he wasn’t focused on the touristy spots, but on the authentic experiences each place had to offer, and the stories its people had to tell. And while I’m no celebrity chef of professional documentarian by any means, I thought adding a blog to this site could not only be a fun way to document my travels and keep everyone updated, but also offer a more intimate look into the places I visit.

The plan

If I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure how this site is going to work. I have this idea in my head that I’m going to make a blog post at the end of each day, keeping everything as up-to-date as possible, but let’s be real—that more than likely won’t be happening lol. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to do that, but after walking around and exploring all day long, I more than likely won’t be in the mood to sit down, upload photos, and recap the day’s events.

However, since we’ll be traveling mostly by train, I’m hoping to use this downtime to work on the site. Even then, I’m not sure I can promise any level of consistency, but I’m going to try my hardest to not let things fall to the wayside.

Future Outlook

As of now, the site will mainly be focused on documenting our Eurotrip, but once that’s over (sad), I’m hoping to keep it going for years to come. Though maybe I’m getting a little ahead of myself and should probably make sure I can even maintain it while traveling first lol.
